This will be my 2nd mother's day in the hospital, but at least I know Janessa is okay. Thursday evening we came down the Pittsburgh for an urinary tract infection, I have UA strips, like official ones and it came back positive for leukocytes, nitrates, proteins, and blood, so off to the hospital we went. While we were here the other night they drew blood cultures as well, and sent us on our way home with an antibiotic we received the following day for her UTI. Janessa from that point on had no fevers, but she did have a decreased urine output, wasn't acting odd, and had a clear line site.
Around 4 this afternoon I received a call from Children's stating the blood culture came back positive for strep, so again off we went to obtain more blood cultures. Finally after a few hours fiddling around in the ER vancomyacin was started and we were brought up to 7B(transplant floor). Now all we can really do is wait for results and hopefully they come back negative soon!! This will be Janessa's first ever line infection if it comes back that it was contaminated.
In recent news, Janessa cries every time a nurse or doctor touches her, I feel so bad that I can't do anything to help her :( hopefully we will be home soon to go back to our normal lifestyle!
